Ignite the Spirit

This fund was established by firefighters.  Ignite the Spirit acts as a funnel, and contributes to many Chicago Fire Department related charities, families and widows.  The Ignite the Spirit team works tirelessly marketing wonderful events, not the least of which is the annual firefighters calendar.

The Nick Grogan High School Scholarship.  An essay contest, “who is the most influential person in your life, and why.”  Each entrant must be attending or entering a tuition paying high school.  Essays should be between 100 and 200 words.  $5,000 will be awarded to an entrant.  Submissions are due no later then March 29th 2010.

This Spring, 2010, Ignite the Spirit has organized a Cancer Awareness Bike Ride.  It will begin May 18th and will cover approximately 950 miles.  The riders will circle Lake Michigan, beginning in Chicago, through Michigan, then back home through Wisconsin.  30 riders will cover approximately 80 miles on a bicycle each day.

The Third Annual Firefighter-Paramedic Ball.

The ball is scheduled for June 18. 2010 6:30pm – 12:00am at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza located at 350 W. Mart Center Drive, Chicago.

Cost is $200 per couple for a night of drinks, dinner, dancing and silent auction.
