Make-A-Wish Wing Madness 2010

Wing Madness at Dick's Last Resort Chicago

Make-A-Wish Foundation Wing Madness April 7th, 2010

Thank you to each of for volunteering to compete in what hopes to be one of the greatest battles in Chicago history! The CPD is claiming that they will “extinguish” the CFD.  We are certain Chicago Firefighters do not want that to happen at the first annual WingMadness to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois.

I thought I would share with you a few details:

The Essentials: Wednesday, April 7th, Dick’s Last Resort, 315 N. Dearborn, Event starts at 17:30; the competition will start around 18:00. We ask that all competitors are there by 17:30 for a quick briefing. There is validated park available at State and Kinzie (for $10) or the lot at Clark and Kinzie is $8 after 3pm. Please don’t park illegally. There will be a police presence at this event.

Please remember to invite your friends, family members, fellow firefighters, medics and even EMTs. They can register online at www.wingmadness2010.com or call me at (312) 602-9434 up until the day of the event. You can pay by credit card or at the door. We just need to get the best count we can so the restaurant is prepared.

We still have places open in both competitions. We have space for two more fire personnel in the speed competition and room for five in the hot competition. Spread the word. Ask your co-workers. We can’t have the CPD show you up!

Prizes: As you know there are two competitions, a speed contest and a spicy contest. Each contest will have three winners that will take home prizes. First place in each competition will have their name immortalized in the WingMadness trophy and displayed at their station for the year and will receive a complimentary weekend stay at the Palmer House on State ($600 value). Second place will receive a trophy and 2 tickets to the Venue (with entertainers like Ringo Starr, Aretha Franklin and more) at the Horseshoe Casino (with Buffet Tickets). Third place will receive tickets for a Shoreline Cruises sightseeing tour down the Chicago River.

Speed Competition: There are three rounds to this competition. During each round competitors will be given a number of wings and they will be judged (in weight) by how much they ate in a specific time period. As the rounds progress, the weights will be cumulative. So the winner at the end of the championship will the person who at the most cumulatively throughout the night. Before each round the bucket of wings will be weighed. After that round, it will be weighed again, and the difference is what you will be scored on.

Spicy Competition: This is a single-bout, last man standing competition. The guy standing at the end will win. There will be specified ways to surrender. Details will be distributed the day of the event.

Finally, thank you each for getting involved. This is going to be a great event and I believe that will make enough money to sponsor two kids’ wishes. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me or call me at (312) 602-9434 (8am-5pm).

Best wishes.
