Chicago Fire Department Gaelic Football Team

Gaelic football is one of the world’s oldest known sports still played today. It is one of the most played sports in Ireland.  One of the first records of football in Ireland comes from 1308, when John McCrocan, a spectator at a football game at Newcastle, County Dublin was charged with “accidentally” stabbing a player named William Bernard.  Football Hooligan.

This is obviously a sport that cannot be ignored by the Chicago Fire Department.  When the Dublin Fire Brigade Challenged the City of Chicago Fire Department, the Chicago firefighters and paramedics responded.  The CFD Gaelic Football team was established in 2009 to answer this challenge from Ireland.

It remains to be seen if the Irish firemen from Dublin will play the Fire Department in American Football.  If the Dublin Fire Brigade answers that challenge, we can be certain they will have a better kicking game then the fire department football team, the Blaze.
